Wow! I’ve been neglecting the poor ol wowblog. My wow life hasn’t been all that exciting so there’s not much to write about, I suppose! since the giant patch of world-breakingness hit I’ve mostly been going OCD on achievements (mostly fishing, cause I’m boring like that) and non-combat pet collecting. I did manage to pick up a few of the new non-combat pets and one rarity I’ve wanted for awhile – the Disgusting Oozeling! It only took days and days of running circles in Swamp of Sorrows killing slimes, but the ooze of cuteness is mine. Other pets I added to my roster were the Singing Sunflower (AMG it took me forever to beat the PvZ game in Hillsbrad… I had to look up strats on Wowhead >_<), Mr Grubbs (think I got a little lucky on finding this one so quickly), Withers (the quest chain to get this guy is actually pretty cool, got to visit that troll town you could never reach before in Darkshore), and Tiny Flamefly (another one requiring kind of a long questline).
I also finally went around collecting enough recipes to hit the Chef de Cuisine achievement and fished around a bit to work toward the Oceanographer and Limnologist achies (goodness these are going to be painful, heh). I still haven’t been torched by Deathwing, though…
OH and I got the most awesome hunter pet ever on my level-80-and-still-wearing-heirlooms huntard – a SEAGULL! I called him Mine ;D It’s tiny enough to look like a non-combat pet and flaps along happily with a grin on its face (beak?). Best pet ever? I also ran around and tamed some of the other newly-available pets – a fox, a mastiff, a beetle, and a green cat…. >_>

Yes I have been rather quiet lately, mostly because my WoW life has been a revolving door of mostly the same things over and over – I raid, I level alts, I raid some more – but today I got a Very Special Email, one that definitely injected a little shot of YAY into the doldrums.
I almost deleted the email thinking it was yet another badly-worded, grammatically incorrect phishing scam, but noticed all the headers actually originated from blizzard.com. Could it be? I logged into my battle.net account to see first hand, and there it sat in shiny, sparkly glory – Cataclysm beta! SQUEEEEE
Blizzard probably sent out another mass wave of invites now that the expansion release is drawing closer (I got a beta invite to WotLK right around the same time and the servers were a giant lagfest with all the new people logging in at once), but I’ll take a beta key in any form!
To fulfill my roguish duty I’ll copy over my beloved dagger-wielder and see how she feels with a severely pruned talent tree and OLD WEATHER FLYING (can I get an amen!). I’ll also probably copy over my other 80′s just to check out the changes; my hunter and shadowpriest in particular are sounding like they will be interesting to test drive with new talents. My druid, I’m not sure about… I’ll spend most of the time logged into him crying over spilled tree form – and I probably don’t want to touch my paladin with a 10 foot pole, based on the feedback on the wow forums…
Sigh, beta installer at 18%… *twitch*

YAY! After about 4 hours of attempts tonight we finally got him down. And now I’m srsly tired and have to work tomorrow, and I’m off to bed.
we were all just like YAAAY at this point
Finally I feel like I’ve “beat” WoTLK.. in a sense >_>

Got the chance to do a few hours of Lich King attempts with one of the 10-man groups from my guild last night and over the weekend. Can I just say OMG GET OUT OF THE DEFILE, PEOPLE.
That was our biggest problem – and I know there’s a somewhat random element to it (kind of reminded me of Malchezzar’s infernals in Kara, actually) but RUN AWAY RUN AWAY DO NOT STAND IN THE INKY BLACK DEATH!
The lowest we got him was about 30% but there was always some kind of unfortunate ending… someone getting defile and then getting grabbed by a valk, or that kind of thing. I have the feeling we can get him down soon, we just need a little luck!
It was a little frustrating as a Mutilate rogue (lacking uber aoe and having to target switch constantly) but I managed to do ok DPS. This seems like another fight that’s a little more friendly to ranged, unfortunately :\
more thoughts on this fight to come, I’m sure!
In other news I love the Guild’s new music video and you should totally watch it, even if you don’t normally watch the show <3

Sooo my druid ended up going back to ICC the day after his first adventure and knocked out the plague wing and the crimison halls (and also somehow managed to finish the Blood Queen fight as a vampire, though I didn’t realize she was so close to dying and was frantically running around looking for someone to bite, haha). Those are two achievements that my main character, poor lil Avvy, hasn’t completed. (Of course I don’t even HAVE a 10 man group with Avvy, but still!)
Yesterday as many of you know the ICC pity buff went up to 30%, so I was hoping our guild 25-man (that Avvy is committed to) would actually be able to down Putricide and/or move on to the Crimison Halls (we’ve downed the princes once in 25 man but frustratingly haven’t returned to that fight since then, as the raid leaders seem bent on getting down Putricide first for some reason). Unfortunately we had to pug out 5 or 6 spots and after several attempts could only get Putri down to about 13%. Frustrating!
Tonight is supposed to be our continuation 25-man ICC run of the week but if history is any example we’ll only get about 13 raiders online, it won’t fill, and we’ll end up bumming around Dalaran all night or running VoA instead. Double frustrating!
There was one amusing thing about last night… (real names blacked out to protect the innocents!)
sorry for the fuzziness, I took it with mah cellphone!
That’s right, my friend Garrett has been offline longer than he’s been ALIVE.
I thought it was merely a glitch with Avvy’s friends list but after the raid I switched to a few alts and the same thing showed up on all of them. Heh!

I was enjoying a nice relaxing day off last night leveling my wee noob eleshammy when my raid leader asked me to come heal an altie ICC 10 on my druid. Now, my druid is fun to play but 1.) he has never been in ICC in any form and 2.) his GS is a paltry 4500-ish. Not so awesome when most of his raid gear came out of Naxx. My raid leader was either crazy or had a lot of faith in me cause he insisted I come along anyway. So, off went ol’ Nadeau to the big scary icy land of ICC.
There were 2 other healers in the group, a shammy and priest, both of which had gearscores around 5100-5200. I felt a little better knowing I was just going to be blanketing the raid mostly and not assigned to keep up a tank, which combined with my random DC issues would have probably given me hives. I whipped out my little mini-me pet and off we went.
I'll enjoy treedancing while I can, darnit
Aside from having to innervate myself every fight it actually went wayyyyyyy better than I was expecting. In spite of my drood’s mostly crap gear he seemed to be outhealing the other 2 healers fairly regularly (though I’m sure a lot of that can be attributed to typical druid overhealing). I did DC a few times but thankfully never at a time that it would have wiped the raid.
shortly before my rogue's favorite ICC fight
I ended up picking up some new gear for him – the first ICC rep ring and a decent mace upgrade in Lockjaw. After the raid I also had enough frosties to get a T10 piece so he is also now the proud owner of T10 gloves and his GS is up to somewhere in the 4600s, woo!
Course now my raid leader wants me to start bringing him along more often… so I have totally screwed myself in regards to getting to DPS every raid, haha. >_<
Playing my druid also reminded me of the sad day approaching when my beloved tree form will no longer be around.. it will be a sorrowful day indeed in Avvyland :(

I have missed you. All of this RL fitness crap is eating up so much of my precious wow time. However, I did spend some quality time on my bum over the weekend, mindlessly leveling my wee shammy alt (who is not as wee anymore and has dinged 51!) mostly because this is the last time I will be able to experience these old-world quests before they retire for good in Cataclysm. Oddly I have always liked the quests in WPL/EPL as they have so much background story and lore on the whole scourge/undead/plague thing, and give you kind of a forboding sense of what’s to come in WotLK.
Along the way I hit up the random dungeon tool for some easy XP and to hopefully complete my level 50 shammy quest (why are all the level 50 quests in ST? Gah). My first dungeon of the day was BRD, in which the tank charged into the first room, rounded up every single mob, died in a not-so-glorious smear on the floor, and proceeded to drop group, quickly followed by the rest of the party members. My, what an awesome way to start out the day!
By the end of it I managed to get the shammy quest done and picked up my somewhat lame quest reward before leveling her JC a bit (talk about a money sink, hoo boy) and calling it a night. Can I say that I’m also somewhat bummed that I don’t get Heroism until level 70? Because I am.
Oh, I also check my battle.net account every freaking day looking for a beta invite only to have my hopes daily smashed by cold hard reality. I think if I did somehow magically get into beta I would transfer Avvy over and then buy a bunch of heirlooms for a worgen… I may even level another rogue. Because, I mean, ninja werewolves, yo. (Plus, I leveled my rogue soooo long ago and I was such a noob back then, I’m sure it will seem like a whole new experience! >_>)
Oh, and I am very, very excited about Dragon Age 2. Do want!
